Michael Santoliquido, Eastchester resident and owner of San Signs and Awnings, was honored at the Healing the Children Northeast seventh annual golf outing and reception on June 29 at the Waccabuc Country Club in New York.
He was recognized for his ongoing philanthropic efforts and support for the organization over the past seven years. President Kathleen McGovern stated that Michael Santoliquido has been and continues to be an integral sponsor and has donated thousands of dollars worth of signage and banners throughout this time period.
Santoliquido said he was thankful, fortunate and truly blessed to have had the care and attention for his daughter Gabriella who survived a 24-week premature birth and a 4 1⁄2-month hospital stay. As a result, he is extremely passionate and committed towards helping HTCNE in any way possible, he said.
The Healing the Children’s organization is a 501C non-profit group of surgeons, physicians, dentist, nurses, medical suppliers and volunteers who provide free medical and surgical care for underprivileged children in the United States and abroad. Most of the families are poor and uninsured and cannot afford the much needed medical services provided by this organization.
HTCNE has provided medical and dental care for approximately 2,600 children annually and since 1985 have treated more than 33,000 children worldwide. Funding for the project is made through private donations, grants, membership dues and fund raising events.
The organization’s annual budget is projected at $210,000; the volunteer services program has generated between $4 million and $5 million in donated services and supplies annually. McGovern added that for every $1 donated to the organization, representatives are able to provide more than $27 worth of donated medical care.
